It suffices to say that after 45 years of working as a Registered
Nurse plus raising thoroughbred horses for 30 of those years,
that our farming goals were more than ready for change. The
horses are gone and the alpacas moved in and Vello Vellon
was born.
Our farm is nestled in the middle of the self-proclaimed
Zinfandel Capital of the World, in the Northern San Joaquin
Valley of California on the CA wine trail. Our family farm
is operated by a mother-daughter team, Gaye & Gina. Our
farm support consists of husband David and children James
& Magen.
Quality California Alpaca fiber production and women in agriculture are the
primary goals of the farm. The bulk of our fiber is graded
and sent on to a co-op for processing. Gaye spins, weaves,
and knits and is building an inventory of handmade products
for a future online store.
